If you didn’t already know this, I had a wacky weekend. Let me tell you a bit about it. To start off, we ended our day at school on Friday. I went home with my friend and she and I hung out for a bit, and then she had to go home because she had to leave for the States. So I just had some dinner, watched a bit of T.V, and them my parents and I went back over to my friends house because my dad needed to get something, and they were still there because the border line was too long. What do you know; we ended up staying there for a little bit too long. It sucked because near the end of school, I started to get a head ache, and it kept getting worse and worse as the rest of the day went on. When we got pack from their house, I went and got ready for the Preteen Dance! I had a blast when I was there! On Saturday, my family and I stayed home because my mom and dad had a Halloween party to go to. At about 4pm, I helped my mom get ready for that night. While my parents were at the party, I stayed at a 7 year olds house, and ended up staying the night. I came home of Sunday, got a Booster Juice, Carved a pumpkin, and I also lost my tooth! So all in all, I had a half crazy and half boring weekend but I still had lots of fun!
So on Thursday, the think we team went to Rogers’s arena for an event called we day. So on Wednesday night, my dad had to set his alarm for 5:30am! “Bring Bring!” The alarm has gone off but my dad had to come and wake me up because I couldn’t hear it. He woke me up at exactly 5:32am. He told me that I needed to wake him up again at 6. So I got out of bed, got changed, and went downstairs and fed the cats, man were those cats hungry! Made my lunch, and got myself some breakfast. After all of that, I went upstairs and woke my dad up again, and he got ready while I got all of my stuff together. We got in the car and off we went! We left my house at 6:25am. When we got to the school, my dad left me and all 18 of us grade 6 and 7 students, and 4 teachers, left the school at 6:45am to go to the sky train station. We got on the sky train and were on our way to Rogers’s arena at 7:15am! When we got there, we found our seats and sat down and waited for the show to start. Before it started we were taken up to get a souvenir if we had money for one. I got a ring, and then we got to go back to our seat and only a couple minutes later, the show started! So instead of going in depth, I’ll just give you a “long” overview of the show. So there were some performers, and some speakers. Some of the sings were Demi Lovato, Cody Simpson, One Republic, Shawn Desmond, and more. Every one of the performers did one song other that One Republic. They did two songs. Everybody was amazing. Some of the speakers were Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Spencer West, Christi Clarke, Mark and Craig Keilburger, and more. They were also amazing and have very powerful speeches. My favorite singer had to be all of them. Okay, I’ll choose two. Hands down, Demi Lovato, and Cody Simpson. I think that they sung very well and their songs had a meaning to them that was very powerful. For speakers, I’ll have to say Spencer West, and the blind girl. (I’m sorry I forget her name.) Spencer West only has half a body and he told us all about how his climb was because he climbed on of the biggest mountain ever. And the Blind girl told us all about her past being bullied. On our seat, we got a little goodie bag with lots of things in it. Too many to list. Well, all in all, I had and amazing day and I have to say that everybody was my favorite, and I wish I can do that again next year!
Boom! Boom! Crash! Wow, what a dream! I had a dream about a hero saving my city! Pardon me? You want me to tell you what I see in a hero? Okay, I’ll tell you. Well, to start off, my hero would be a person who is very strong in the heart, and trustworthy. It wouldn’t matter if it was a girl or a guy; they just need to be willing to save me if something was wrong. To me, a hero is not a guy with some cheesy name, suit and who has powers. It has to be a person I can trust and someone that I know in my gut that they will do anything to same me and will always have my back. The heroes in my life are my parents. I know that I can trust my parents more than anybody. I think everybody in the world trust their parents as much as I do. I also think that my teacher is a huge hero to me. I know that she will always be there for me and will help me through all of my “Bumps and cracks in my road.” So in the end, a hero is just a trustworthy and willing, helpful person and I know I will always be safe when I am around them.
Today was an amazing day to fly kites! Would you like to hear about my past week on constructing and flying a kite? Well… POW! I had an amazing day flying and now here to share it with you! Keep reading! Since Tuesday, we have been working on making kites. On Tuesday, we made a draft on our kite using a plain piece of paper. We then on Wednesday got our kite material and started to draw our design on to the kite. We had to be very careful and be light when we were drawing because it was hard to erase the pencil lines on that type of material. After we finished drawing everything on the kite, we got to colour it. Now the problem with the colouring process of this project was that some classes colored with crayons, and other classes used felts. My class did it with felts because we thought that it would stand out better. Most classes were not allowed to use felts because they thought that the colour might bleed. But for my class, they didn’t seem to do that. After we coloured our kites, we then (on Thursday) we got to build our kites with our little buddies. I thought that it was a lot of fun building the kites. I had to help out my buddy a lot with building her kite, but that was ok, she did lots of the work to. After we built them, we got to go outside and flew them! We had to be careful though because there were so many kites so it was easy to get tangled. But I had a really fun time and can’t wait to do it again! I loved how this week went by, flying and building kites and I am now going to close down this piece with you, I know I’m sorry it has to be this way, but it just has to happen. So have a great day and keep flying those kites!
Yesterday I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I was so tired and grumpy! When my mom said "Are you ready for the grouse grind?" I almost jumped because I forgot all about it! I had a big breakfast, got dressed and I was ready for it. Though I was ready, I still wasn't 100% excited. This year was my second year doing it so I knew what it was going to be like. Last year, I did the hike in 2 hours and 20 mins. This year I did it in 1 hour and 25 mins! 55 mins better! My mom drove me to school and I sat on top of my desk waiting for my teacher. The moment I left my classroom and got into the car, I got happier! My mom put on some music and I started to sing with my friends. When we got to the mountain, I stepped out of the car and walked to all of my friends. Just then, my teacher took attendence, we grabbed out hiking buddies and off we went! Right when we started climbing, I already was tired after like three steps! At first in the beggining, it was hard to get up because there was alot of people squashed together. But the more you get up the mountain, the most you spread yourselves out. On the mountain, there are signs that tell you that you at at the 1/4 mark, 1/2 mark, and 3/4 mark. And then the top! You walk for so long and then you realise your only at the 1/4 mark! As I kept climbing, it got easier. Finally then when I reached the top, all my friends that were already up their, started chanting my name. I walked up to my teacher and got my time. 1 hour and 25 mins! I then walked over to my friends and started chanting other peoples name that were on their way up. When everybody was up, we got back down the mountain using the gondola. It was really fun! So then we got back into the car and went back to the school, and then went home! After that, I had to go to dance but I had a fun day anyway!
